Facts About Chickens

ChickenI don’t suppose you would know much about chickens, apart from they’re rather yummy, so I'll start from the beginning; chickens are birds which are believed to be the nearest relative of the Tyrannosaurus Rex. It does fly, but not for long, the longest recorded flight of a chicken is thirteen seconds. A chicken takes about 21 days to hatch.

Chickens alarm calls change according to what predator they are being threatened by, which is quite clever really, that’s if the other chickens can understand what each sound really means.

In the chicken capital of the world, also known as Gainesville, Georgia, it is illegal to eat chicken with a fork! You’ve been warned, use a spork.

If you have a fear of chickens, then you actually have Alektorophobia. I suggest you don’t visit KFC for your tea.

A chicken with red earlobes will produce brown eggs, and a chicken with white earlobes will produce white eggs. So if you want a golden egg, paint the chickens’ earlobes gold! It works; I now have three golden eggs.

Whilst randomly browsing YouTube, I came across a video about chicken’s heads. It’s quite amusing and I thought it would be worth a mention.

As for ‘the chicken or the egg’, that will have it’s own post sometime in the near future.
