The Friet Museum, BelgiumBelgium is well known across the word for it's chocolate, however, did you know that many believe Potato Fries (Or French fries as they are also known as) originally started in Belgium? It may come to no surprise that Belgium is home to the words only potato fry museum!
The Friet Museum was created by the Cédric and Eddy Van Belle families, who also started the Belgian Chocolate Mesuem, Choco-Story, and the Domestic Lighting Mesuem. This museum is housed in a building known as the "Saaihalle", which dates back from the year 1399, and is the oldest surviving building in Bruges!
The Museum is very educational, teaching it's visitors all the secrets of making good fries. The ground floor provides great information about the history of the potatoes, dating back 10,000 years ago in Peru. On the first floor you can find out about the history of fries, and how they came to Belgium. And of course, no visit to a food museum would be complete without sampling the goods. The basement is full of different fries that you can try out. Don't forget your tomato ketchup!
The Creation Museum, KentuckyThe Creation Museum is located near Petersburg, Kentucky, and presents an account of the origins of the universe, all life within, and man's early history according to a young earth creationist's perspective to the book of Genesis.
According to their website, the Creation Museum "brings the pages of the Bible to live, casting its characters and animals in dynamic form and placing them in familiar settings".
Since opening to the public on the 28th May 2007, it has been on the receiving end of much criticism by many members of the scientific, educational and Christian community.
It's exhibits rejects biological evolution, and states that the world, and all living things upon it were created just 6,000 years ago over a 6 day period. Rejecting scientific evidence, many of their exhibits promote the young earth creationists claims of humans and dinosaurs co-exisiting, and even show that dinosaurs were on Noah's Ark!
