Here’s some interesting facts about something we don’t see much of here in the UK, yes the Sun. I like the Sun, only wish it would show itself a little bit more.Anyway, the Sun is a star, its one out of billions of stars but it’s the closest to Earth. Without the Sun, there would be no life on Earth as there would be no heat and light needed for any life form. The Sun makes a full rotation once every 25-35 days, it is also titled slightly.
The Sun is classed as a middle-aged star, which means it’s about half way through its life (4.5billion years old), so there’s no need to worry about the sun blowing out, well not until over five billion years time.
The Sun is approximately 870,000 miles wide, which is one hundred and nine times wider than Earth, and is 333,000 times heavier, that’s heavy! The temperature at the core of the Sun is about 15 million° Centigrade, now that would give you a nasty burn!
There is no such thing as the Sun rising or setting, the reason it looks like it does is because of the angle that Earth rotates at. Scientists have proven that ultraviolet rays can cause permanent damaged to your eyes, the effects can lead to blurred vision, head aches and in some cases even vision loss.
