So what if Cubone is Kangaskhan’s pre-evolution? But in order to evolve into a Kanghaskan it needs a mother's attention. But say if the mother died, the little Cubone would take it's mother's skull as protection, and a bone, then evolve all by itself into a beautiful Marowak. You may wonder why it doesn't evolve into a Kangaskhan, well Pokémon games are well known for items having an effect. So it's the skull on Cubone that evolves it into Marowak.
Also what about the stomach pouch on Kangaskhan's? Well a Kangaskhan is a female-only species with no male counterpart, however a baby Kangaskhan's gender is not mentioned anywhere. So Cubone's are male baby Kangaskhan's, which is why they don't have a pouch, although if these were to evolve into an adult Kangaskhan, it would become female.
So, what do you think? It's well thought through and actually makes sense... I'd like to believe this is true, and I would love the creator of Pokémon to confirm this theory!
If you like this theory, check out the Venomoth / Butterfree Theory.

pokemon is not real
ReplyDeletepokemon is totally real.
ReplyDeletePokemon is so sexy, i want a Gardevoir as my girlfriend.
ReplyDeletePokemon is so sexy i wont a Shiny Charizard as my Epic Mount.
ReplyDeleteWho gives a damn if pokémon arent real. the stories and lore from the pokémon universe are extremely good, and this one is propably the very best one.
ReplyDeleteThis theory is brilliant. Hi five.
ReplyDeleteDefinately brilliant. I never would've thought of that! and I've been playin pokemon since 1st grade!
ReplyDeleteCubone was blates the best pokemon.
ReplyDelete:)
I always believed this theory. When I thought about for a while I wanted to see if my theory was correct. This is a very well thought out theory!
ReplyDeleteMISSINGNO = cubone
ReplyDeleteThis is the single greatest post on the entire internet. Thanks for getting the old brain working lol. good theory.
ReplyDeletenice, theory, but I a a female marowak, no pouch.
ReplyDeletei liek pokemans they r kewl
ReplyDeleteI think making the males evolve into females is kind of pushing it. :)
ReplyDeleteThe baby Khangaskan that uses his or her mother's bones becomes a cubone and evolves into marowak. The bones affect how the cubone evolves. It gets rid of the pouch on a female marowak that would be on the khangaskan.

It's an interesting theory but the fact that these two pokemon are completely different types, Kangaskhan being a normal type pokemon and cubone / marowak being ground types makes this theory a little impossible. Sure you could always say, well we don't know what type the baby kangaskhan is but if you look back at all other pokemon that evolve their types don't drastically change just because they haven't evolved yet, for example a nidoran [poison type] evolved into a nidorino also a poison type, it doesn't change its type into lets say nidoran a water type evolved into nidorino a flying type, it just doesn't work because saying that pokemon have genetic codes this would mean its entire genetic information would alter so greatly it becomes something completely different. We can see this with animals from the same species but different branches, for example the plain zebras and the quagga [extinct] they're both zebras but the quagga was brown in color, light underbelly and only had striped on the front part of its body, but just because it looked different it doesn't mean it was a predator. I don't know if that's a good example but what i'm trying to say is that just because something looks different on the outside like nidoran and nidoking, they're still the same creature just a more "mature" version, just like when we grow up, we look nothing like our baby selves but our DNA is still the same.
ReplyDeleteWell I think that the theory is true!Because kanga..whatever lives in mountains just like cubone does.Think about it.What the creator should do on the new pokemon game have a evolution of marowak, that just happens to be the same everything of kanga..whatever only with the skull and the bone!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that the theory is True!!!!!!! The creators of pokemon should put a new EVOLUTION of marowak that just happens to have everything the same with kanka..whatever .Only the difference should be the type and the skull and bone!!!!! Jesse my hands are hurting.
ReplyDeleteThis theory is actually well known. There is even more to it then this. The problem with cubone was that is was to agressive to let him wear his mother's skull. So they quickly changed the setup. But the baby kangaskhan was not deleted from the script since that would be too trouble some. So instead they placed it on number 000 . This is also the theory where the missing no. came from.
ReplyDeleteIt could work. Someone mention the types being different. Larvitar goes from Rock to Rock/Dark and most pokemon that hold items to evolve aren't the same type. Steelix, Scizor, both steel to their couterparts. The skull could be an item, and so on and so forth
ReplyDelete@Catatonic, Larvitar evolves from Rock to Rock/Dark, its still Rock but its more mature form adds on Dark. But Kangaskhan and Cubone have completely different types. I mean, if Kangaskhan was Normal/Ground, it could work. But from the pattern they've used in pokemon, it seems they need to retain at least one type similarity(except for Eeveelutions). I can definitely see where you guys are coming from though, and the skull item could work. I like this theory a lot, its just the type difference throws me off.
ReplyDeleteAzuril -> Maril
ReplyDeleteNormal -> Water
also, onix is rock, steelix is steel.
ReplyDeleteif you gonna say the types are similar, then theres nothing more similar than normal and ground.
/discussion
evee is normal, and it elvolves ito completely random types - blem
ReplyDeleteI truly do like this theory, but there are many holes that are filled by imagination alone. In regards to the type evolution, I can't think of a pokemon that changes its type completely to another, with onix sharing ground with steelix, and in regards to eevee, the evolutions are caused by stones, which are not entirely explained. However it is correct that there is no type more similar than normal and ground.
ReplyDeleteI always thought of Kangaskhan as what would have been something that the Marowak would evolve into but at the last minute it was split as something seperate and shoved Marowak's evolution into somewhere with open data (cinnibar or so) seeing how close to the launch date and is presumably there and also a possible origin of the missingno or it's sister counter part M'. I always thought the child has and always was a Kangaskhan and has no idea it has to be part of any species ._. , I also figured that is was the trauma and associated stress of it's loss that made it from Cubone to Marowak rather than the skull itself. Your theory makes sense too.
ReplyDeleteI think that the pokémon's types are just an indicator of where they live, what they have built up resistances to, ect. A baby Bagon wants to fly, so it builds up a hard cranium by jumping off cliffs or something, and like a caterpillar from a cocoon (Shelgon), it evolves into Salamence, that has grown wings. (like holy crap, where did it get wings?!?)Also, agreeing with some above, Eevee evolves into Umbreon and Espeon due to happiness and exposure to sunlight? it changes into something due to adaptation. A female Marowak does no longer need a pouch. Besides, it's Pokémon. Where else can a worthless fish turn into a rampaging dragon? or a creature can be created from data and change form due to change of trainer and an item?

ReplyDeleteeevee is a normal type and it evolves into other types
Espeon
Psychic form
Flareon
Fire form
Glaceon
Ice form
Jolteon
Electric form
Leafeon
Grass form
Umbreon
Dark Form
Vaporeon
Water Form
what now u stupid bitch
This case is true. In the original Red and Blue versions of Pokemon, which was the origin of pokemon (the show was made AFTER the game), Marowak was supposed to evolve into Kangaskahn, hence why the Cubone to MArowak is only two forms long as opposed to most other pokemon, as well as why the Kangaskahn was a non-evolving pokemon.
ReplyDeleteLast minute changes decided that Kangaskahn would not evolve, but the process to remove the evolution code from the game itself would have been too time consuming and would hinder the release date, so the developers took the code moved it to an empty spot on the game that did not have a number. Thus the creation of missingno, or 'M, which is actually Marowak, not Cubone. This is why if you caught missingno in the game and evolved it, it would just turn into a normal Kangaskahn.
Do some reading before posting theories.
Kangaskhan lives in the plains to my knowledge...
ReplyDeleteNOTE: Larvitar: Rock/ground. Tyranitar: Rock/Dark
Onix: Rock/Ground. Steelix: Steel/GROUND.
They all have one same type.
Azurill also may change gender when it evolves. It is just madness all around, that thing. (Plus, it appears unnaturally, because marill don't normally lay eggs to azurill. Only human-made tools can make them lay azurill, so I guess azurill is a premature baby.)
Well eevee it´s the DNA pokémon (like ditto it can change DNA), so it changes by exposure on something.
ReplyDeleteBut there´s other pokémons who change type en evolute by items... the skull could be a item.
Also Cubone could be the name people gave to orphaned kangaskhan babies (even the original name was orphun), and it´s not a real new pokémon.
And finally, it originated on the first game, when no rules where set, so a pokemon could change it´s type and not being weird.
if kangaskhan can only been female 100% of the time, how do they have babies????? :/
ReplyDeletewell why didn`t nintendo or game freak say anything. Also 'M didnt ruin my svae data.
ReplyDeleteKangaskhan was the original evolution of Marowak, (that little baby in its pouch was actually a cubone.) but at the last minute they decided to make Kangaskhan a Pokémon without an evolution, but to take time to delete the correct code from the game would prove very time consuming, so the programmers just moved that code to an empty spot, without a number. Thus, the birth of MISSINGNO
ReplyDeleteShort for, "Missing Number."
I think that this theory is true, but come on guys, ITS POKEMON! Have some imagination. If a cubone ALWAYS takes its mothers skull then how can you breed 10 cubones from 2 marowacks? dont be technical. and kangashkan might have been boned by a nidoking or a rhydon. god.
ReplyDeletesounds dumb. i mean how can a male baby cubone become a female kangaskhan? if the mother dies, then the baby kangaskhan becomes a cubone, and cubones evolve into marowaks, not kangaskhans.
ReplyDelete"...although if [a male Cubone] were to evolve into an adult Kangaskhan, it would become female."
ReplyDeleteOh wow. I hope to God you're not serious.
well it can't be cause cubones skull is the skull of its mother by that its not its skull as in inside its head its a skull that it puts on its head i think so that cannot be true and a male turning into a female is just.....eww so yea it cannot be true but i don't darn see why people say this all the time it is not true and pokemon are not real there only a game made by nintendo
ReplyDeleteso..what i've gotten from this:
ReplyDelete1) i started playing pokemon since the original blue version first came out like almost 13 years ago i believe and i had never heard of the missing number haha
2) POKEMON ARE REAL but everyone knows that already!
and 3) cubone is a tranny
however cubone is still awesome
There's Kirlia, it can only evolve into Gallade if it's male, and Snorunt can only evolve into Froslass if it's female. Let's not be stupid and be like, "How do you evolve a male Cubone into Kangaskhan?" Most likely, if they were to make a baby Kangaskhan for the game, and IF they were to make it evolve into a Cubone, you'd have to evolve it with a bone or skull item, maybe at night to be more depressing. Other than that, maybe evolve the female baby just by leveling up?
ReplyDeleteIf this were the case then what would happen to a male Kangaskhan baby that did have it's mother to nurture it?
ReplyDeleteThe developers of the original red and blue games at first intended for marowak to evolve into kangaskhan. However, last minute adjustments eventually yielded the decision that kangaskhan would not be an evolution but its own species. Since it would have taken a lot of time to remove the code sequence of pre-evolution, the developers just moved the code into another slot, one without a number...
ReplyDeleteHence, "Missingno"

ReplyDeleteYou forgot there's female cubones and marowaks and cubone and marowak are based on dog-like animals
ReplyDeleteEver notice you can capture them both in rock tunnel and route 15? if we are throwing around theories we may as well acknowledge that they appear in common areas
ReplyDeletewell a maybe a male cubone would turn into a male kangaskhan and we just never see them in the game, aren't we thinkign outside the game in the first place?..
ReplyDeleteIf Pokemon makes a new game they should do something completely insane to them like, merging two species and making it into one also by doing this making the first 4 leved evolution species a baby kenghaskahn wich you uncover by inspecting a pile of boNes after this you are alerted that something Is hiding around the the bones after this you are thrown into a battle with an unknown creature( wich is the first battling kenghaskahn ) in the battle after its mothers death it picks up a bone for protection and wields it in battle. When you capture it you obtain a kenghaskahn skull , and it won't evolve until you have high enough friendship when this happens you get it the skull and evolves into cuebone, then when high enough lvl it evolves into marowak them at a really late level and maxed friendship it grows out of the skull and evolves into kenghaskahn male or female thus revealing the first male kenghaskahn and as for the purplish colors for both the original baby and adult kenghaskahn females being purple and dark brownish purple then males should be cuebones and marowaks original color tan and a adult kenghaskahn should be dirt brown with no pouch
