7 Billion: How Did We Get So Big So Fast?

In 1804, the global population reached one billion. In 2011 the global population reached 7 billion. Because of better medicine and living conditions, means there is a higher life expectancy for children, which is dramatically increasing the world population.



As higher standards of living and better health care are reaching more parts of the world, the rates of fertility — and population growth — have started to slow down, though the population will continue to grow for the foreseeable future.
